Title of lithograph: Latin species name. "Spermophilus Tridecemilineatus" aka Four Striped Ground Squirrel.
Following Audubon’s successful completion of "Birds of America" he completed "Viviparous Quadrupeds of North America." After the watercolor paintings of each of the mammals were completed, they were issued in Imperial Folio size, as stone lithographs, in three volumes, I, II, and III. These large lithographs were hand colored, and very well received.
