Description
Original John James Audubon lithograph “Quadrupeds of North America” Imperial Folio, Chipmunks. Latin species name. “Spermophilus Tridecemilineatus” aka Leopard Spermpophile. Following Audubon’s successful completion of “Birds of America” he completed “Viviparous Quadrupeds of North America.” Following the watercolor paintings of each of the mammals, they were issued in Imperial Folio size, as stone lithographs, in three volumes, I, II, and III. These large lithographs were hand colored, and very well received.
