Description
American School, African American Impressionist -Wash Day- Oil on Canvas by unknown artist, Weaver. This charming oil painting depicts a black family on wash day. The subject matter would be an early to mid 1900’s day where the family lauders their clothing. An old wash tub over fire is used to launder the clothing in hot water, while another family member hangs the clothing on the line. An interesting depiction of African American life, circa 1940’s/1950’s. Signed lower right, Weaver.
